This article makes a lot of sense to me. Just as it’s unreasonable (and even sort of depressing) to expect employment at any one particular company (or anywhere else, for that matter) to last your whole career, it is equally illogical to expect your job-function to last your whole career. What should always be a constant, however, is the deliberate addition and cultivation of meaningful professional relationships. In the end, your connections ARE your reputation – and vice-versa. Add good people to your universe, and possibilities expand exponentially.
